PNNA Spring Convention Report - 2007

The biggest annual coin show in the Pacific Northwest, sponsored by the Pacific Northwest Numismatic Association (PNNA), was once again a major success, with very strong attendance and bourse activity Friday and Saturday, along with exhibits, awards, numismatic theater programs on Saturday, and a popular Young Numismatists (YN) program. The weather was relatively mild and dry for spring in Seattle, but not hot enough to keep collectors away!

  • Most of the numismatic theater presenters are pictured below.

  • Juniors on the bourse floor were excited to have the opportunity to complete a set of numismatic items as part of the Young Numismatist (YN) "Treasure Hunt" game. Participation was excellent again this year!

  • Former PNNA president Tom Sheehan was announced as the winner of the Nina Nystrom Memorial Goodwill Ambassador Award, and Walt Ostromecki, who has run our successful YN program for several years, was surprised and pleased to receive the Bob Everett Memorial Award. Both awards were presented by PNNA president Larry Gaye, who also made two presidential awards – to Tacoma-Lakewood Coin Club editor Rick Schultz, and to token collector and Willamette Coin Club member Jim Mabry.

  • There was one competitive collector exhibit this year, plus a few interesting non-competitive exhibits.

  • Attendees once again received custom designed and struck pewter “tokens" while supplies lasted!

Total paid attendance of the highly successful 2007 PNNA convention was estimated at well over 1,000 (probably about as high as last year), and just about everyone seemed to be satisfied. The PNNA was pleased to announce that the association's annual convention would again be held at the Tukwila Community Center the weekend of April 11-13, 2008. (Subsequently revised to April 4-6, 2008.)
